Dark side of Telematics: A usefull tool or a new Big Brother on the roads?

Telematics belong to innovative technology which is here to help transportation industries, stakeholders, passengers etc. Sarah MacKinley explains in one page article the pros and the cons of telematics in transportation industry. GYM main pillar is to use telematics presenting an innovative and sustainable platform which reduces carbon footprint.
Telematics offer benefits to users.  Telematics allow a company to manage its fleet. A company has the ability to monitor driver behaviour and monitor locations. New technologies offer energy consumption measurements and prediction algorithms to find more efficient routes.
Data analytics and energy consumption measurement allow a business to develop new optimized driving styles so to save money and reduce CO2 emissions.  On the other side a telematic system may work like a “Big Brother”.
Many times drivers feel like haunted. They feel that every move is being monitored by a GPS. Giles Margerison – senior director of TomTom believes that employees of a company uses telematics must be trained to use them. Otherwise they will think that someone watching them and this can reduce safety.
