Mobility plan for Prague and the surrounding area

After nearly three years of work, 240 concrete measures to improve transport have been named on the basis of an analysis of problem spots and discussions with the professional public. The major projects include the completion of the Prague Ring Road and other road constructions, the construction of the Metro line D and the development of the tram network, the extension of the railway network including the connection with the airport and city of Kladno, the creation of 100 km of new cycling routes, strengthening of the share of electric vehicles, repair of streets and bridges, improvement of public transport stops, construction of P+R parkings in the Central Bohemian Region, improvement of the city's supply system, introduction of low carbon logistics system, toll system, creation of fast connection with cities such as Ústí nad Labem, Hradec Králové and Liberec, barrier-free public transport vehicles and others.

Mobile technology connects Montreal’s transport network

Public transit users in the Montréal metropolitan area now have access to a mobile application called Chrono. Chrono is a mobile app available free of charge for smartphones running the iOS or Android operating systems. The app helps to provide streamlined journeys to its users with continual real-time information, whilst enabling public transport operators to become mobility managers.

Public consultation for the Sustainable Urban Mobility Plan of Larissa

The mayor of Larissa announced the beginning of the public consultation of the city’s Sustainable Urban Mobility Plan and referred to the important projects and actions that will be implemented in the forthcoming months.

In specific, in the frame of the city’s Sustainable Urban Mobility Plan, 17 million Euros are planned to be invested for improving the city’s accessibility and the transport-traffic conditions.

Passengers who want to take an intercity journey via public transport in Greece, should use either the Railway Network (TRAINOSE) or the Intercity Bus network (KTEL). 

However, neither one of those networks cover all the possible transitions from each city to another throughout the country. Thus, some journeys involve changing modes— from say a bus to a train or vice versa (co-modal travelling or co-modality). That can only happen in stations that are part of both TRAINOSE and KTEL (intermediate nodes).

Mobility alert for urban zones - Urban Mobility Plan Awards

The European Commission has launched the 5th edition of the Sustainable Urban Mobility Plan (SUMPs) Awards. Each year, the award highlights a different aspect of mobility planning. The 2013 award recognised successful territorial and policy integration, while the 2014 edition looked at monitoring implementation with an eye to making improvements.
