Sydney advances intelligent transport management system

Sydney has begun to develop an advanced transport management system, providing customers with improved real-time information and predictive technology that can reduce congestion. 

Minister for Transport and Infrastructure, Andrew Constance, said the new system will help the Transport Management Centre (TMC) make faster, more informed decisions which results in more reliable passenger journeys and lower levels of congestion.

ITS World Congress 2018

The ITS (Intelligent Transport Systems) World Congress rotates between Europe, the Asia Pacific region and the Americas, returning to Europe every three years. ERTICO ITS Europe organises either an ITS World Congress or an ITS European Congress every year. The Congress provides an opportunity for all stakeholders to come together, discuss and make the necessary contacts to move initiatives forward and to develop their business by exhibiting and demonstrating state of the art ITS solutions.

Sessions are a vital part of the ITS World Congress 2018 which takes place in Copenhagen in September. Under the theme “ITS - Quality of Life”, experts will have the opportunity to present the latest ITS solutions and mobility technologies. The Congress will be a momentum to show ground breaking results on how ITS solutions have created a positive impact for the citizens. 

The ITS Congress consists of three main areas:

• Congress programme sessions and presentations of the latest developments in ITS
• Demonstrations – showcases of current ITS technology being developed and deployed throughout the world)
• Exhibition – exhibition booths and dedicated sessions/events

CODECS C-ITS City Pool workshop

The final workshop of the CODECS C-ITS City Pool will take place in Dublin City Council on 22 March 2018 in order to involve city representatives and discuss the level of deployment of C-ITS (Cooperative Intelligent Transport Systems)  and the benefits for transport authorities, in addition to the role they could play in the future.

Sessions will cover topics such as how C-ITS can support traffic management, what is the added value of C-ITS over existing ITS (Intelligent Transport Systems), are cities willing to pay for it, how can C-ITS strengthen urban freight and public transport.

3rd 2-day Conference of ITS Hellas «Intelligent Transport Systems and developments in Greece»

The 2-day Conference «Intelligent Transport Systems and developments in Greece» will be organized by the Greek Organization of Intelligent Transport Systems - ITS Hellas for 3rd year on the run on Tuesday 23 and Wednesday 24 of January 2018, in the Central Amphitheater of the Ministry of Infrastructure, Transport and Networks.

Methodological guidelines by TRAM

The TRAM project just published the Methodological Guidelines with the purpose to identify accumulated practice within the three thematic areas of sustainable urban mobility:

Intelligent Transport: Guidance towards cooperative, connected and automated mobility in the EU

Following an invitation of the European Commission, industry representatives and public authorities have agreed on a further developed shared vision on the interoperable deployment of Cooperative Intelligent Transport Systems (C-ITS) towards cooperative, connected and automated mobility (CCAM) in the European Union.

​Today's report follows on from the C-ITS Platform Phase I report from January 2016 and addresses the common technical and legal framework necessary for the deployment of C-ITS and also takes the needs and possibilities of higher levels of automation into consideration. 

​The outcomes of the second phase of the C-ITS platform also form an essential input for the ongoing preparation of specifications for the provision of cooperative intelligent transport systems.

Intelligent Transport 2017

Taking place at the Queen Elizabeth II Centre in Westminster, London on 31 October 2017, this one-day conference offers a chance for transport professionals to hear the latest developments in the industry.

​This event will be made up of 4 streams; Harnessing Passenger Data, Mobility as a Service, Smart Ticketing and Payments and Real-Time Passenger Information. Attendees will include; Local Authorities, Passenger Transport Executives, Transport Operators, RTPI Consultants, Systems Suppliers and anyone with an interest in the industry.

Czechs and Slovaks want to test autonomous vehicles

Representatives of the Czech and Slovak state, mobile operators, the automotive industry and the academic sphere should develop a joint project to test autonomous vehicles and other modern technologies on the D2 motorway between cities of Bratislava and Brno. Such conclusion was adopted during the joint meeting of Czech Minister of Transport, Mr. Dan Ťok and the Slovak Deputy Prime Minister for Investments and Informatics, Mr. Peter Pellegrini.

"The Czech Republic and the Slovak Republic are important players in the car industry, mutual vehicle production is comparable to the big European countries, so we should work together to develop intelligent transport infrastructure and test autonomous vehicles, and we have agreed to prepare a cross-border project to allow us to test the smart highway in operation", said Czech Transport Minister, Mr. Dan Ťok.

The Slovak Deputy Prime Minister expects that mobile operators and car manufacturers will participate in the project. "We would like to make a cross-border project on the D2 motorway between Bratislava and Brno, test the available facilities and, in cooperation with mobile operators, to examine problematic transitions from one network to another", added Mr. Pellegrini.

Representatives of the Czech Ministry of Transport will, together with Slovak counterparts, form a joint project within the research team, which will, among other things, address the issue of project financing and the timing of its implementation. The Ministry of Transport will also manage a project for a test circuit for autonomous vehicles, which should emerge in the coming years.

ITS Seminar on Intelligent Transport Systems

The Greek Intelligent Transport Systems Organisation, ITS Hellas, is organizing for the second consecutive year a two-day seminar on the topic of “Intelligent Transport Systems and progress in Greece”, under the aegis of the Ministry of Infrastructure, Transport and Networks, the Hellenic Institute of Transportation Engineers and the Greek Cold Storage & Logistics Association.

Intelligent transport systems – C-ITS Initiative Public Consultation

This public consultation aims at collecting the opinions of stakeholders and interested parties, including EU citizens and private and public organisations, with regard to possible actions at EU level to support the accelerated and interoperable deployment of Cooperative Intelligent Transport Systems (C-ITS) in the EU.

23rd ITS World Congress - Enhancing Liveable Cities and Communities

Intelligent Transport Systems Australia (ITS Australia) on behalf of ITS Asia Pacific, ITS America and ERTICO will host the 23rd World Congress on Intelligent Transport Systems 2016 in Melbourne - Australia (Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre) on October 10th to 14th, 2016.

Intelligent Transport Systems: The National Strategy of Greece, 2015-2025

   The Greek Ministry of Economy, Infrastructure, Marine & Tourism published in 2015 the National Strategy of Intelligent Transport Systems (ITS) of Greece for the period 2015-2025. The Strategy was generated in compliance to the National Action Plan (ITS Action Plan 2012) and the Presidential Decree 50/2012, both of which harmonized Greece with the EU Directive 2010/40/EU. The National Strategy focuses on the development of a modern network of combined transportations with undisturbed flow and real time information for the whole country.
