As part of its CSR Strategy, Stanley Black & Decker has set the ambitious target of reducing its carbon footprint intensity by 20 percent by 2020, compared to the 2015 baseline. The company’s MOBILITYACTION is one of the ways the team is working toward this goal.

European Commission announces sustainable mobility award nominees

The European Commission revealed the finalists of the EUROPEANMOBILITYWEEK Awards and the Award for Sustainable Urban Mobility Planning (SUMP). The EUROPEANMOBILITYWEEK Awards showcase local authorities that demonstrate significant efforts in promoting sustainable urban mobility, while the SUMP Award recognises outstanding sustainable urban mobility planning.

EUROPEAN MOBILITY WEEK 2018: Mixing transport modes to improve quality of life

From 16 – 22 September,  the 17th time EUROPEANMOBILITYWEEK took place with the aim to improve quality of life by promoting clean mobility and sustainable urban transport with over 2,400 towns and cities from 50 countries.

This year’s EUROPEANMOBILITYWEEK:  “Mix and Move!” has been defined by the multimodal transport - the mixing of transport modes within the same journey or for different trips, as 2018 has been declared the ‘Year of Multimodality’,   encouraging people to rethink the way they move about the cities, and having the willingness to try out new forms of mobility.

Local authorities that made significant efforts to promote sustainable urban mobility during the campaign could apply for the EUROPEANMOBILITYWEEK Awards and for the SUMP Award, which recognizes local and regional authorities for excellence in sustainable urban mobility planning.

Increased participation leads to new EUROPEAN MOBILITY WEEK record

EUROPEANMOBILITYWEEK has hit a new participation record, with almost 2,800 towns and cities from 54 countries taking part in 2018. A full list of participants can be viewed online.

This impressive figure marks the third record-breaking year in a row for the campaign. The geographic reach of EUROPEANMOBILITYWEEK has also expanded, with towns and cities from 54 countries participating, including several from outside of Europe.

Vienna, Igoumenitsa and Turda: winners of the EUROPEANMOBILITYWEEK Awards 2017

The EUROPEANMOBILITYWEEK Award showcases local authorities that demonstrate significant efforts in promoting sustainable urban mobility, while the SUMP Award recognises outstanding sustainable urban mobility planning. This edition of the SUMP award focused on shared mobility in the planning process. Vienna, Igoumenitsa and Turda were selected by an independent panel of mobility and transport experts and will each receive a promotional video highlighting their achievements.

Sharing gets you further

The 2017 European Mobility Week (16-22 September 2017) is held under the theme of clean, shared and intelligent mobility, as encapsulated by the slogan 'Sharing gets you further'. By using shared forms of transport we can reduce our expenses and lower our carbon footprint. Best of all, we can meet new people and make our journey more sociable.

Smart technology, such as apps and online platforms are already helping to make mobility more efficient, saving us money and helping the environment. New applications have made it easier than ever before to manage our mobility together. Studies show that embracing shared mobility can have a positive impact on our towns and cities: each shared car, for example, takes approximately 15 private cars off the road.Sharing also enables us to mix transport types more easily. Driving, cycling, public transport - it's all possible when we share.

​In 2017, EUROPEANMOBILITYWEEK invites local politicians and the public to experience the benefits of shared mobility. Cities, NGOs, business sector and schools can get involved in European Mobility Week and register their mobility actions, test new forms of clean mobility and progress towards more sustainable mobility for Europe. For the time being only 14 cities are participating but the number is expected to increase a lot, considering that in 2016 2.427 towns and cities have participated in the campaign.

Registration opens for European Mobility Week 2016

This year EUROPEANMOBILITYWEEK will be held from the 16th to the 22nd of September, 2016 under the banner of 'Smart and sustainable mobility - an investment for Europe', referring to the close ties between transport and economics and encouraging local politicians and the public to look at smart and sustainable mobility as an investment for Europe.

EUROPEANMOBILITYWEEK Award - The top 10 European Cities

On 15th March 2016 the European Commission announced the list of top ten candidates for the EUROPEANMOBILITYWEEK Award 2015 with this year’s theme “Choose. Change. Combine.”. It was a special year, as European Commission received 53 applications from 19 countries. However those, who have made the greatest effort in promoting the more sustainable means of transport, such as public transport, cycling, walking and the combination of them, and encouraging citizens to change their habits and ways of transport, were shortlisted as finalists.
