Volkswagen: The scandal explained

In September 2015 a violation was detected by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) in many Volkswagen diesel vehicles. More specifically, it was discovered that Volkswagen installed a software that detected when the vehicle was being under laboratory emissions testing, thus emitting less in order to pass the regulation tests.
