Czechs sorted out 417,000 tons of bio-waste in 2015

Ministry of the Environment of the Czech Republic introduced last year municipalities’ duty to ensure that citizens have option to discard the bio-waste. Thanks to that Czechs last year sorted out about 92,000 tons of bio-waste more than in 2014.
"With the new regulation last year we managed to increase the amount of separated organic waste to 417,000 tons. It's about 92,000 tons more than in 2014. But there is still room for improvement and we want to make this number even higher this year. Thanks to EU funds towns and cities have the opportunity to improve and expand their systems for waste sorting ", commented Minister Richard Brabec 2015 data.
Czech Republic shall significantly improve sorting of biological waste, with respect to European legislation and the possible sanctions from the European Commission for not complying with the obligations arising from EU directives.
