Electric vehicle technology is the next innovative step in automotive industry. Electricity in transportation is applicable in trams, metros and railways. Since now many famous brands have presented electric cars.
Electric vehicles are mechanically very simple and often achieve 90% energy conversion efficiency.
Their release no tail pipe air pollutants in the place where they are operated and they have maximum of energy resilience.
The biggest benefit of electrical vehicles is the cost of recharge and maintenance.
The main problem with electricity is that there is no way to storage huge amounts of electrical energy so to move a truck. For that reason Sweden invented electrically powered trucks near the city of Gavle. From now on Scania electrical trucks will be driven in E16 motorway of Sweden region. These new trucks are hybrid and they can work and outside E16 motorway.
The truck receives electrical power from a pantograph power collector that is mounted on the truck cab. When the truck goes outside the lane the truck is powered by a combustion engine.
Scania is also developing new technologies for alternative fuels, autonomously and wirelessly – connected trucks and fully electric vehicles.
